The Re.Brand studio team was invited to refresh and develop the new brand identity of the Green European Journal.
While the previous visuals were primarily recognisable through the magazine’s distinctive hand-drawn illustrations, they had not been optimised for digital environments and lacked the broader set of tools required for consistent online applications, resulting in a fragmented brand presence.
The focus was to enhance the Journal’s recognisability, while also delivering clear guidelines to ensure coherence between the print edition and the magazine’s digital and social media appearance.
The new key elements developed by Re.Brand drew inspiration from the diversity of natural landscapes, both in terms of colors and shapes. We introduced a more distinctive digital palette, where green no longer stood as the sole protagonist, but was complemented by a more vibrant purple, the accent kakhi and blue sky, and a range of secondary tones that more accurately reflected the magazine’s broad editorial themes and mission.
In parallel, we developed an expanded suite of visual assets to support all kinds of applications, including a more versatile set of custom patterns. These were designed to adapt seamlessly across print illustrations, digital press photography, offline communication materials, and merchandising.
Finally, a new compact version of the logo was created to work in harmony with the primary brand mark, designed specifically to be used in small-scale applications.
